FROZEN HITS THE DISNEY WONDER STAGE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN FOREVER
Frozen, A Musical Spectacular will soon debut on the newly enhanced Disney Wonder. This full-length live show captures the emotional and heartwarming story of Anna and Elsa in an all-new, larger-than-life interpretation of this beloved Disney animated film!

“The story of Frozen is one of the most iconic animated movies ever, so this is a unique and special opportunity to retell the story on board Disney Wonder, transporting Guests right into the world of Arendelle,” says Kevin Eld, Creative Portfolio Executive, Walt Disney Imagineering.

To adapt this blockbuster feature into a quintessential stage production, Eld assembled a team of distinguished creative talent with Broadway credits and theatrical accolades.

The production is led by Tony Award-nominated director Sheryl Kaller (Next Fall, Mothers and Sons). In addition to several other award-winning designers, Kaller is joined by Aaron Rhyne, himself an award-winning video and projection designer (Tangled: The Musical, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder). For Frozen, Rhyne has incorporated state-of-the-art effects that bring the story to life in new and surprising ways.

“Projections play a big part in the show. We go to a lot of different locations in a richer and more developed way that you could do with just scenery,” explains Rhyne. “Also, with a show like Frozen, there’s so much about magic... and projections let that magic live in a special, unique way.”

Imagine being inside the cozy confines of Arendelle Castle and then instantly being whisked into the swirling snows of the mountainside. That’s the beauty and magic of projection.

The show also features new motion-tracking technology, where trackers, such as a small piece of material, are placed on the actors. Live-track video content is then projected onto them. Picture Elsa, live in front of you, creating magical snow swirls from her hands and then seeing the snow magically circle the entire theater. What’s exciting is that this technology hasn’t been used in this type of onstage musical setting before. And the results are breathtaking.

“We can make the full space our canvas, rather than just what’s on the stage traditionally,” says Rhyne.

The ship’s Walt Disney Theatre is the perfect setting to showcase the film’s wintry wizardry and prolific score, with favorite songs like “Let It Go” and “Love is an Open Door” brought to life like never before.
