Radio Frequency technology—also known as RF—is commonly used technology found throughout the world in everyday items like credit cards, video game controllers, fitness wristbands and much more. We use RF technology to enhance your experience during your Disney Cruise Line vacation.
RF Technology on Your Disney Cruise Line Vacation
DisneyBand+ and Key to the World cards use RF technology to allow you to enter your stateroom with a simple touch and make contactless purchases at select onboard locations. We continue to use this common technology for new and amazing experiences and enhanced Guest service.
Regulation of RF Technology
Disney Cruise Line ships have systems and devices with RF technology that are designed, tested and manufactured to comply with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations. The levels of RF energy they generate are similar to those found in many consumer devices.
Implanted Pacemakers or Cardioverter-Defibrillators and RF Technology
If you have questions about your medical device and RF technology, we encourage you to seek the guidance of your device’s manufacturer and your physician. Manufacturers of implantable pacemakers and cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) typically recommend that you keep your medical device 9 inches (23 cm) away from RF transmitters similar to the one found inside DisneyBand+ and at touch points throughout Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort and the Disney Cruise Line fleet of ships.
If you suspect RF technology interference with your medical device, move away from the RF device so it is at least 9 inches (23 cm) away from your pacemaker or ICD.
Insulin Pumps, Neuro-Stimulators, Hearing Aids and RF Technology
Every device differs so we encourage you to check directly with your device manufacturer and physician before use of DisneyBand+ if you are unsure of any associated risks from RF technology.
