On this tour you will:

  • Travel by bus, for approximately 40 minutes, on a picturesque journey up the White Pass and all the way to Fraser, BC.
  • Board the White Pass Railway for an unforgettably scenic journey across the Canadian highlands, down the White Pass, trace the "Trail of '98" and arrive at the Denver Trail, approximately 6 miles from Skagway.
  • Follow the Denver Valley trail on a 5 to 6-mile roundtrip wilderness hike, as it winds its way along the East Fork of the Skagway River to Elway Falls, for approximately 4.25 hours.
  • Enjoy the pristine beauty of the Tongass National Forest and marvel at trees more than 1,000 years old. This old-growth forest valley was carved by glaciers and is deeper than the Grand Canyon. Your experience is fully narrated by your guide, who introduces you to the flora, fauna, and history that make the region unique.
  • Board the train after the hike for the remaining 6-mile ride back to town, and enjoy snacks and beverages while onboard
  • Be free to explore the historic town when the adventure ends at the White Pass depot, a short walk from your ship.

Important Additional Information

  • Passports are required for all Guests, as this tour crosses the border into Canada.
  • Tour not appropriate for Guests with limited mobility or wheelchairs. Guests must be ambulatory.
  • Guests should be in good physical condition and able to walk over uneven and sometimes difficult terrain.
  • Sandwiches made on train for later consumption. Buffet includes meats, cheese, bread, peanut butter, jelly, vegetables and condiments.
  • Smoked salmon patê, crackers and assorted beverages will be served after the hike.
  • High quality rain gear, extra warm layers, hat, gloves, sun block, bug repellant and trekking pole provided.
  • Guests are encouraged to dress in layers and wear shoes or boots appropriate for walking on uneven surfaces.
  • Tour may run in reverse order with train first and bus last.
  • Guests are encouraged to bring currency and credit cards to purchase extras such as souvenirs.
  • Due to the extremely limited availability of this shore excursion, Guests are encouraged to book early.
  • You should never feel that gratuities are expected, but it is customary to leave a tip in recognition of exceptional service in restaurants, taxis and for excursion guides and drivers. It is always up to you to determine the amount.
