On this tour, you will:
  • Meet your guide and board your open-air transportation for the approximate 25-minute drive to hacienda Santa Emilia.
  • At the hacienda, receive a short safety briefing and your helmet (required), and then saddle up on your horse, which is half Criollo, half Quarter Horse. Horses will be assigned based on your height, weight and riding ability. All equipment is provided.
  • Travel back through time on horseback to the Mayan frontier. The trail ride will take you through the tropical savanna of Cozumel to uncover the mystery of the ancient Mayan civilization. Tour small replicas of Mayan Ruins by horseback and make a short stop at ancient caves and learn the history of the goddess Ixchel.
  • After your approximate 90-minute trail ride, return to the hacienda for a refreshing beverage (bottle of water or soft drink) and enjoy a visit to a working ranch, stocked with cattle and other animals. You can also enjoy the swimming pool at the ranch.
  • After your approximate 30-minute visit, return to the pier.

  • Guests must be ambulatory. Wheelchairs (collapsible or electric) are not permitted. Tour operators will deny participation to Guests arriving in wheelchairs or electric scooters.
  • Maximum Guest weight is 240 pounds.
  • Guests are required to wear long pants and closed shoes.
  • This is a horse-walking tour through the Mayan frontier; horses do not gallop.
  • Guests are encouraged to bring sunscreen, insect repellant and sunglasses. Guests wishing to swim are encouraged to wear swimwear under their clothes and to bring a towel.
  • Guests are encouraged to bring currency to purchase optional extras such as souvenirs or beverages.
  • You should never feel that gratuities are expected from you. However, it is customary to leave a gratuity in recognition of service at restaurants, taxis, and for exceptional excursion guides and drivers. It is always up to you as to what you feel is appropriate.
